Depuis jeudi 6 août 2020, la fumée monte un peu partout à Abidjan, capitale économique de la Côte d’Ivoire. Bataille pour le rétablissement du nom de l’ancien chef de l’Etat Laurent Gbagbo sur la liste électorale. De Cocody les II Plateaux à Yopougon, la fumée monte. C’est cette atmosphère déjà surchauffée que le président Alassane Ouattara vicie davantage en annonçant sa candidature à un troisième mandat à la Présidence de la République. Une candidature qui fait bondir l’artiste Meiway, totalement opposé à cette décision et demande à Ouattara de se ressaisir au moment où il est encore temps. Car lui, Frédérique Meiway, « sait prévenir mais ne sait pas guérir ». Ce vendredi 7 août 2020, la fumée s’élève à Yopougon Gesco, où l’entrée d’Abidjan serait bloquée.
De même, des images de Bonoua, où les manifestants ont délogé les forces de l’ordre, montrent qu’il n’y a pas la sérénité. Guillaume Soro, depuis Paris ne décolère pas. Il s’élève contre le fait d’être empêché de candidater pour la présidentielle de 2020 et prend à témoin le peuple ivoirien, de Ferké en passant par Bouaké jusqu’à Abidjan. Les artistes Serges Kassy, Billi Billi et bien d’autres encore, sont en colère. Odette Lorougon, Vice-Présidente du FPI, proteste sur sa page Facebook en ces termes : « Restons dignes et mobilisés car nous n’allons plus jamais accepter l’inacceptable dans ce pays nôtre qu’est la Terre d’Eburnie ». Ça manifeste devant l’Ambassade de Côte d’Ivoire à Paris. En clair, la fièvre monte. Par sa candidature, Alassane Ouattara cristallise les colères du peuple contre sa personne.
